The scale drawing of a rectangular room will be enlarged by a scale factor of 4 to create the actual room. The actual area of the room will be 150 square feet. Which expression finds the area of the scale drawing?

    We need to determine the expression that would represent the area of the scale drawing described in the problem. Two rectangular room which has a scale factor of 4 and this can be written as Area SR (area for small rectangle) / Area LR (area of the large rectangle).

    We need also to take note that the actual area of the rectangular room is 150 ft². We have it like this:

    Area LR / Area SR = 4:1

    Area LR / 150 = 4

    Area LR = 150*4

    Area LR = 600 ft²

    This is the area of the larger rectangular room "600 ft²".
