Holiday Company is a seasonal business. It earned twice as much in the fourth quarter as it did in each of the other quarters. What part of the earnings came from the fourth quarter

    If the first 3 quarters each earn E dollars, then the fourth quarter earned 2E dollars for an annual earning of 3E+2E=5E dollars.

    So the fourth quarter earned 2E/5E = 2/5 = 0.4 = 40% of the annual earnings.
