What is an opposite like in negatives and stuff?

The opposite of a negative number is a positive number and vice versa the opposite of a positive number is a negative number. I don't know what you mean by stuff, but the opposite of multiplication is division and the opposite of addition is subtraction. Also, the opposite of squaring is the square root.
