    You distribute the - 7/9 to the x+3. So it would be - 7/9x-7/3=14. Add - 7/3 to both sides to get x by itself. So then it would be - 7/9x=49/3. Divide both sides by - 7/9 and then x=-21

    7/9 (x+3) = 14

    7x/9 + 21/9 = 14 (21/9 = 7/3)

    7x/9 = 14 - 7/3

    7x/9 = (42-7) / 3

    7x/9 = 35 / 3

    7x = 35 * 9 / 3

    7x = 35 * 3

    x = 35 * 3 / 7

    x = 5 * 3

    x=15
