The wholesale cost of a textbook is $12. The cost to the student is $48. What is the percent of increase?

    Percent increase=increase/original

    increase=48-12=36

    36/12=3

    percent measn parts out of 100

    x%=x/100

    3=x%

    3=x/100

    times 100 both sides

    300=x

    answer is 300%
