The measure of an exterior angle of a regular polygon is 40º. Find the number of sides of the polygon?

If e = measure of each exterior angle and n = number of sides, then

n = 360/e

In our case, we have e = 40, so,

n = 360/e

n = 360/40

n = 9

We have a nine sided regular polygon (also known as a regular nonagon)
