Tyler and Ben plan on taking a road trip to Yellowstone National Park. Tyler's car currently has 45,000 miles on it. They plan on traveling, on avergae, 60 mph. Define the variables. Write an equation that represents the car's mileage according to the number of hours that they travel on the trip. Use the equation to find the odometer reading after 13 hours of travel. Show your work.

    X = number of hours traveled

    Y = Total miles on the car

    Y = 60x + 45 000

    for 13 hours

    Y = 60 (13) + 45 000

    Y = 45 780
