The length of a rectangle is 3 cm less than twice the width. If the area of the

rectangle is 54 cm², what is the width of the rectangle?

    x=width

    x (2x-3) = 54

    => 2x^2-3x-54=0

    => x = 6 (x = - 4.5 not valid)

    (length = 2x-3 = 9)
