    Answer: 900 calories in one taco supreme, 1290 calories in one beef burrito

    X = number of taco supremes

    Y = number of beef burritos

    1x + 2y = 3480

    2x + 1y = 3090

    Multiply top equation by 2 to make it equal second equation

    2 (x + 2y = 3480) = 2x + 4y = 6960

    Solve using by setting equations equal to each other

    2x + 4y = 6960

    2x + y = 3090

    2x = 6960 - 4y

    2x = 3090 - y

    6960 - 4y = 3090 - y

    6960 = 3090 + 3y

    3870 = 3y

    1290 = y (1290 calories in a beef burrito)

    Substitute in for number of calories in a taco supreme

    2x + (1290) = 3090

    2x = 1800

    x = 900 (900 calories in a taco supreme)

    You can check by substituting the amounts back in to the original equations to see if they add up

    1 (900) + 2 (1290) = 3480 Correct!

    2 (900) + 1 (1290) = 3090 Correct!
