    A) let P be the price of the meal before tax and tip. tax is. 06P, so the total for the meal and tax is 1.06P The tip is. 18P. so the total he spent

    72.39=1.06P+.18P = 1.24P

    B) 1.24P=72.39

    P=72.39/1.24

    P=58.38 with some tiny rounding error
