Given the functions, f (x) = 2x^2 - x + 1, calculate the average rate of change of the function from x = 1 to x = 3.

    f (x) = 2x^2 - x + 1

    f' (x) = 4x - 1

    Well:

    f' (1) = 4 - 1 = 3

    f' (3) = 12 - 1 = 11

    3+11/2 = 7
