A machine produces a total of 12,000 bolts a day, which are on the average 3% defective. Find the probability that out of 600 bolts chosen at random, 12 will be defective.

    12/600 will be equal to 2%.

    You can check the answer this way:

    2% of 600

    2/100 * 600

    Cut the '00' in 600 and 100 ...

    2/1 * 6

    = 12
