    The complememtn is the angle that adds to the angle to get 90

    so

    the complement of angle a is b if

    a+b=90

    so

    the comlmement of a 42 degree angle is

    42+complement=90

    complmement=c

    42+c=90

    minus 42 both sides

    c=48

    the measure of the complement is 48 degrees

    c is the complement
