    If f (x) = - 5, you gotta assume that f = - 5 and x = 1 like in any equation

    So if f (x) = - 5, then f (8.6) should be - 5 (8.6) by distributive property

    -5 (8.6) = - 43

    The answer is - 43 OR f (8.6) = - 43
