The perimeter of a rectangular field is 276 yards. Of the length of the field is 76 yards, what is its width?

    P = 2 (L + W)

    P = 276

    L = 76

    276 = 2 (76 + W)

    276 = 152 + 2W

    276 - 152 = 2W

    124 = 2W

    124/2 = W

    62 = W < = = = the width is 62 yds

    Length (l) = 76 yards

    Width (w) = ?

    We know that,

    P = 2 * (l + w)

    276 = 2 * (76 + w)

    76 + w = 138

    w = 62
