A contractor is building a circular swimming pool. The radius of the circle 14 feet. He needs to know the circumference in order to buy tile to put around the edge of the pool. What is the circumference if he uses = 22/7?

    Circumference of a circle is C = π (r²) or in this case C = 22/7 (r²) since it wants you to use 22/7 as pi. Now plug in radius:

    C = (22/7) (14²)

    C = (22/7) (196) now multiply this out

    C = 616 ft
