Solve by the addition method (elimination).

5x+2y=-17

3x-2y=-7

    A) 5x + 2y = - 17

    B) 3x - 2y = - 7

    Adding the 2 equations, we get

    8x = - 24

    x = - 3

    B) 3*-3x - 2y = - 7

    -9 - 2y = - 7

    2y = - 2

    y = - 1
