Lindsey has 47 coins in her change purse that are either dimes or quarters. if y represents the number of quarters she has, write an expression in terms of y that describes the number of dimes.

    X = dimes, y = quarters

    x + y = 47

    x = 47 - y

    so if quarters are y, then dimes are 47 - y
