If he is to gave one apple to each student, there will have to buy 75 apples.

    12 apples require 1 bag.

    75 apples would require: 75 / 12

    = 6.25 bags.

There can't be 6.25 bags. So he would need to buy 7 bags in all.

75/12 = 6.25. Steve will have to buy 7 bags. He will have 9 apples left over.
