An analysis of variance is used to evaluate the mean differences for a research study comparing four treatments with a separate sample of n = 8 in each treatment. If the data produce an F-ratio of F = 5.50, then which statistical decision is correct? a. Reject the null hypothesis with? =.05 but not with? =.01.

b. Reject the null hypothesis with either? =.05 or? =.01.

c. Fail to reject the null hypothesis with either? =.05 or? =.01.

d. There is not enough information to make a statistical decision.

    c. Fail to reject the null hypothesis with either alpha =.05 or alpha =.01

    Step-by-step explanation:

Given that an analysis of variance is used to evaluate the mean differences for a research study comparing four treatments with a separate sample of n = 8 in each treatment. If the data produce an F-ratio of F = 5.50

    No of treatments = 4

    sample size n = 8

Hence Degrees of freedom for F would be

    4-1, 8-4

    =3, 4

    p value = 0.066558

This p value >0.05 and also greater than 0.01

Hence at 5% level and also at 1% level we accept null hypothesis.

    c. Fail to reject the null hypothesis with either alpha =.05 or alpha =.01.
