Jared is standing on the roof of a 100 meter building doing some surveying. He spots a delivery truck at an angle of depression of 30 degrees. How far is the truck from the base of the building?

    The truck is 173.20508 meters away because the triangle is a 30 60 90 degree triangle. Therefore you would do. 100 (radical) 3

    1st : The angle of depression 30° = the angle of elevation (from the truck to the height of the building.

    2nd:

    cos 30° = (adjacent side) / (hypotenuse)

    cos 30° = x/100, but cos 30° = (√3) / 2

    (√3) / 2 = x/100 and x = (100√3) / 2

    and x = (50.√3) = 86.60 m
