    We can solve this using an equation, with x representing the amount of stories on the John Hancock center.

    x x. 8 = 80

    Isolate the x by negating the operation of x. 8 by dividing by. 8 on both sides.

    80 /.8 = 100

    x = 100

    There are 100 stories in the John Hancock Center in Chicago.

    Another way to think of it is the moving skyscraper is the skyscraper is 80% of 100, so a proportion of 80:100 = height of the moving skyscraper : John Hancock Center. Luckily, the skyscraper is already 80, so we know the John Hancock Center is 100 stories high.
