Alma wants to mail a package that requires $1.53 in postage. Alma only has 5-cent stamps and 8-cent stamps. What is the smallest number of stamps that she could use to total exactly $1.53?

    21 stamps because 8 cents time 16 equals 1.28 and 5 cents times 5 cents equals 0.25 so 1.28+0.25 = $1.53
