Et one factory the ratio of defective bulbs produced to the total light bulbs produced is 3:500. How many light bulbs are expected to be defective when 12,000 are produced?

    The answer is:

    3 : 500 = x : 12000

    x = (3*12000) / 500

    x = 36000/500

    x = 72

    72 light bulbs are expected to be defective when 12000 are produced.
