    Step-by-step explanation:

    (3x-2) (x+4) = 0

    factor left side

    3x^2+12x-2x-8=0

    3x^2+10x-8=0

    +8 both sides

    3x^2+10x=8

    -10x both sides

    3x^2=8-10x

    /3 both sides

    x^2 = (8-10x) / 3

    /x both sides

    x = (8-10) / 3 = - 2/3
