Keith ran in a marathon. It took him 3 hours and 2 minutes to run 26 miles. If he ran at the same rate for the whole race, how many minutes did it take him to run each mile? (1 hour = 60 minutes)

    3 hrs and 2 min = 3 (60) + 2 = 180 + 2 = 182 minutes

    182/26 = x/1

    cross multiply

    26x = 182

    x = 182/26

    x = 7 ... it took 7 minutes to run each mile
