There are 172 South American animals in the Springdale Zoo. That is 45 more than half the number of African animals in the zoo. Write an equation you could use to find n, the number of African animals in the zoo. Tip - Use two step equation.

    A = the number of African animals 45 more than half the number of African animals in the zoo. 45 + 1/2a = 172. 45 + (1/2•254) = 172. A = 254
