If i = square root of - 1, what is the value of i 3?

    If i = √-1,

    then ...

    i² = (√-1) ² = - 1

    i³ = - √-1 = - i < = = the answer to the question

    i⁴ = (i²) · (i²) = (-1) · (-1) = 1

    and then the whole thing starts over again, for higher powers of i.
