    Assuming they're expecting to sell at the same rate:

    first we divide the number of hams sold by the time it took to sell them

    23/4=5.75

    this is is the rate per hour at which the hams are being sold

    y=23+h

    h=5.75*x

    in these two equations, y=the total number of hams sold and x = the number of hours the store is open after the first 4 hours
