According to the fundamental theorem of algebra, a polynomial function f (x) of degree n has exactly n roots, or zeros, as long as you allow for complex numbers and multiplicity." What does this say about x = 2 as the only apparent solution to x2 + 4x + 4 = 0?

    x^2 + 4x + 4 = 0

    the only apparent solution

    (x+2) ^2

    x=-2

    not x=2
