    Solve the system with elimination

    multiply the first equation by two to cancel

    2 (2x-y=5) new equation 4x-2y=10

    now the - 2y and 2y cancel each other out

    now you have 4x=10 + 3x=4 = 7x=14

    divide by 7 to get x=2 now we have to find y by plugging x into one of the equations (let's use the first one)

    2 (2) - y=5 - -> 4-y=5 - -> - y = 1 - -> y = -1

    (x, y) (2,-1)
