There are 450 mangoes and oranges in a fruit stall. There are twice as many mangoes as there are oranges

    X + 2x=450

    3x=450

    x=450/3

    x=150

    there are 150 oranges and 300 mangoes

    Equation is 2x (mangoes) + x (oranges) = 450.

    2x + x = 450

    3x = 450

    x = 150

    so now we have the amount of oranges = 150

    150 * 2 = 300

    so oranges = 150, mangoes = 300, and to check our work

    150 + 300 = 450
