Yesterday, Jack drove 44 1/2 miles. He used 1 1/4 gallons of gasoline. What is the unit rate for miles per gallon?

    44.5/1.25 = 35.6

    44.5 = 44 1/2 miles he drove

    divided by the amount of gallons of gas he used (1.25)

    which equals 35.6 miles per gallon
