The sum of two positive integers is 50 and their difference is 12. What is the value of the positive difference of the squares of the integers?

    X+y=50

    x-y=12

    add the equations:

    2x=62

    x=31

    50-31=19

    (31-19=12 just to verify)

    31^2 - 19^2 = 600
