    70 dimes and 35 nickels

    Step-by-step explanation:

since one nickel is worth 5 cents we divide 5.25/5 which equals 1.05, take out the decimal and you have 105 nickels. but since the dimes are mixed in with the nickels we have to seperate them. so we don't have 105 nickels but we have 105 coins. we do reverse operation to find the number of dimes because it says "3 times". so we divide 105 by 3 which gives us 35. 105 - 35 = 70. so patrick has 70 dimes and 35 nickels
