A scientist has a hypothesis that, as the temperature rises (to a maximum of 95°F), the proportion of people diagnosed with a certain stress disorder decreases. He finds that at an outside temperature level x1 = 80°F, the proportion diagnosed is p hat equals 0.14. At temperature level x2 = 85°F, the proportion diagnosed is p hat equals 0.09. At temperature level x3 = 90°F, the proportion diagnosed is p hat equals 0.07. Should the hypothesis be rejected or should it be accepted? Why?

    The hypothesis is correct (accepted) since there is a trend that shows that as the temperature increases closer to 95°F the proportion diagnosed does decrease each time.
