Alexia figures out tge answer to 6*9 by lowering the thumb on her right hand. Explain Alexia's strategy.

    She put up 5 fingers on one hand and one finger on the other. On the second hand she counted how many fingers were left. There were 4. On the left hand there were 5 fingers. the five on the left and 4 on the right represent the answer of 54.

    I've used this strategy. Since the thumb on her right hand is the 6th finger from the left, then it mean she is multiplying 9 by 6. With her thumb down, there are 5 fingers on the left, and 4 fingers on the right. Put those together and it is 54. 6 * 9 = 54
