Solve for x.

x/5 + 8 = 6

    First, subtract 8 from both sides which will cross out the 8s on the left side and leave a - 8 on the right.

    X/5 = 6-8

    X/5 = - 2

    Multiply 5 on both sides which crosses out the 5s on the left side, isolating the variable x and - 2 (5) in the right.

    Answer: - 10
