If ScoTT earns $25 per week

    $25*20 = $500

but due to the initial investment, the final earns will be

    $500 - $250 = $250

By mowing lawns, in 20 weeks he will earn:

    20*25 = $500

Since he invested $250 in lawn mower his profit is equal to:

    500-250 = $250

In order to have profit Scott first needs to repay the price of lawn mower. Once he does that he will start making profit.
