The rectangle below has an area of x^2-11x+30 sq meters and a length of x-5 meters.

What expression represents the width of the rectangle?

    As before, area = length x width

    width = area / length = (x^2-11x+30) / (x-5); factoring

    = (x-6) (x-5) / (x-5)

    = x - 6 meters

    (X-5) (x-6)

    X times X and X times - 6 - and - 5 times X and - 5 times - 6

    X^2-6x-5x + 30
