    let p=pounds

    4.3p+1.7

    p=41.94

    6p=41.94

    now just divide both sides by 6 p=?

    The ham would be $6.99 per pound.

    First you add 4.3+1.7 to get 6 then you divide 41.94/6 to get 6.99
