Ellen and Oscar are running in a race. Ellen runs the first mile in 8 minutes, and then each additional mile in 11

minutes. Oscar's speed is represented by the equation t = 10m, where t is the number of minutes it takes him to run m

    The answer is C.

    The equation that represents Ellen's speed is t=11m+8

    So if you plug in 2 for miles in both equations

    Ellen:

    t=11 (2) + 8

    t=22+8

    t=30

    Oscar

    t=10 (2)

    t=20

    Ellen ran 2 miles in 30 minutes while Oscar ran in 20 minutes. So if it was 2 miles, Oscar would've finished before Ellen
