Work Shown:
Add the fractional portions
3/10 + 2/10 = (3+2) / 10 = 5/10 = 1/2
To go from 5/10 to 1/2, you divide both parts by 5
The whole parts of the mixed numbers given add to 2+3 = 5
The whole parts add to 5, the fractional parts add to 1/2, giving us 5 & 1/2

Well it looks like from the work that I've done to figure out this problem, it's an improper fraction, but I simplified it and got b.) 5 1/2
