If Jane has 5 pairs of pants and 7 shirts, how many different combinations of pants and shirts are possible?

    Jane has 5 pants and 7 shirts.

    In order to find how many different combinations of pants and shirts we must multiply.

    7 x 5 = 35

    The answer is 35 combinations.

    This method works when finding out the combinations of anything. Just multiply all the items together.
