It is a linear equation (ie., no x²), so solution should be possible.
First, let's get rid of the brackets:
2/4 x - 1/4 + 1/5 x - 1/5 = 2
Next, lets change the denominator to 20, the least common multiple of 4 and 5:
10/20 x - 5/20 + 4/20 x - 4/20 = 40/20
Then simplify by taking the x terms together and the constant terms:
14/20 x = 49/20 (now multiply by 20 to remove the denominator)
14x = 49 (now divide left and right by 14)
x = 49/14 (divide numerator and denominator by 7)
x = 7/2
Of course, there's any order in which you can perform these operations. They should all lead to the same answer.
