    The surface area is 2,886 cm^2

    Step-by-step explanation:

    In this question we are asked to calculate the surface area of a rectangular octagonal prism.

    The correct mathematical formula to use is as follows;

    Mathematically, the surface area is

    A = 8ah + 4 (1+√2) •a^2

    From the question, we identify the value of a as 10cm and the value of h as 24cm

    We plug these two values into the equation above to yield the following;

    A = 8 (10) (24) + 4 (1 + √2) * 10^2

    A = 1,920 + 400 (2.4142)

    A = 1920 + 965.685

    A = 2,885.69 or approximately 2,886 cm^2
