The mathematics department of a college has 15 male professors, 11 female professors, 10 male teaching assistants, and 5 female teaching assistants. If a person is selected at random from the group, find the probability that the selected person is a teaching assistant or a female.

    The answer is 26/41, or 63.4%

    The number of people that fit into the Female or TA group is 26

    This is because there are 16 total females, and 10 male TAs

    Although there are 5 female TAs as well, they are already included in the 16 person female group, so they are not counted again.
