The dirt costs $8 per ton, and there is a delivery cost

If Tanya needs 5.5 tons, what will the cost be?

    If you multiply the cost per ton ($8) by how many tons she needs (5.5 tons) which would be $44. That would be the cost of the 5.5 tons and then add $12 if it's one order. If I'm wrong it could be multiply the amount of tons if it's a different order each ton.
