    I had this problem before, 8 vans are needed because 56 students : 7 students / van = 8 vans needed.

    Given:

    students going to the game = 56

    students in each van = 7

    number of vans used = unknown; x

    The number sentence that can be used to find out how many vans are needed to take the students to the game is:

    7 * x = 56

    x = 56/7

    x = 8 vans needed.
