A CD case is 0.375 in. thick. You are building a shelf 36 in. long. How many CD cases can you fit on the shelf?

    The answer would be 96 cases because you would have 0.375X=36 if you know algebra.

    Since you can't multiply by X you have to find X, so you do 36/0.375=96.

    Now since you know X you can go back to your problem ...

    0.375X=36

    Plug in for X

    0.375x96=36
